Participate in EPTSA Programs
Our programs help build confidence through understanding a child's mental health and educational needs, uplifting caregivers and educators through compassionate peers who offer insight and encouragement, and inspiring courage to successfully advocate for a child's academic and mental wellness moving forward.
EPTSA programs include:
-
Peer-Led Support Groups
-
Mental Health BASICS Classes
-
Learning Disabilities Workshops
-
Peer Buddy for 504/IEP ARD navigation
-
Symposiums: SPED 101 & Juvenile Justice
Become an EPTSA Facilitator
NAMI Greater San Antonio trains all EPTSA facilitators and support group leaders. Trained leaders will need a background in navigating the special education system and having a close family member, preferably a child, with a mental health condition.
Volunteers must be open-minded, empathetic, and committed to creating safe spaces for caregivers, parents, and educators. Class facilitators must be willing to undergo many training hours and then lead classes once a week for six weeks, whereas support groups are once a month. LDATX will train all facilitators for Learning Disabilities programs and workshops.
Become a Trained ARD Buddy
Families and educators often recognize when a child is struggling. EPTSA offers training to help them navigate Special Education, 504 plans, and caregiver rights to advocate for their child.

The ARD Buddy Program pairs parents with experienced peers for guidance and support. ARD Buddies can attend IEP/504 meetings upon request to provide encouragement and take notes. They are NOT advocates but receive training from the Learning Disabilities Association of Texas.
We seek volunteers with a positive attitude, IEP/504 experience, a willingness to train with LDATX, and flexibility to meet in person or virtually.
